Registration and pre registration for fall kindergarten will be held April 25 from 10 am to noon at the kindergarten building across from the junior high. Eligible children must be five before November 15 1958. First registrants may choose morning or afternoon classes. The school can accommodate at least 40 children. Ron Endicott is appointed Civil Defence director for Coos county with Dr Wilbur Cullers of Coquille as deputy. Endicott has led Civil Defense in Myrtle Point for three years and will direct the local area with Ernie Bryant as assistant. Fourteen units exist with plans to organize new units in the Coos Curry region. Empire, Bandon and Coquille are already organized.

Forest Service approves Rogue River timber road plan at Gold Beach hearing
About 75 people attended the Gold Beach hearing on the Forest Service plan to build a one lane timber access road from Lobster Creek to Agness and north to Rock Creek camp. Red Cross Bloodmobile Visits Myrtle Point On April 29
The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at Myrtle Crest School gymnasium in Myrtle Point on Tuesday from 2 to 6 PM to collect blood donations. Local chairwoman Mrs. Tom Guerin states a quota of 90 pints is needed, no pledge cards required, and the community is urged to cooperate. The Myrtle Point JC group offers support with around 90 percent membership donations, and the hospital has facilities for emergencies while the Red Cross handles routine blood collection to keep costs down.

Robberies Erupt At Dol-R-Wise Market And Schroeder's
Police report two break ins last week at Dol-R-Wise Market and Schroeder's Furniture. A 15 year old youth was detained for the first case for taking a hammer and break in. John Ashbaugh 19 and accomplice Walter Phillips 20 were arrested in the Schroeder case and jailed for trial.

Funeral Held in Myrtle Point for Pioneer Mattie Huling
Funeral services for Miss Martha Mattie Huling 87 were held at the Presbyterian church with Rev. Swenson officiating. Burial was in Myrtle Point cemetery. Born November 1 1870 in Phillipsburg Kansas she moved to Oregon with her parents Duncan and Mrs Huling. The Huling Lundy Hardware founder's name remains in Coos county. She was a charter Presbyterian member and spent most of her life in Myrtle Point before moving to Coquille five years ago to live with Mrs. William Candlin where she died April 16. Schroeder Bros. Martin Coquille handled arrangements.

John Heeren Robbed in Portland Hotel Incident
John Heeren returned from a business trip to Portland wearing another man's suit after a prowler entered his room at the New Heathman Hotel. His clothes and wallet were taken. $65 remained missing. The misfortune prompted other guests to report similar experiences in the hotel.
