Easter Sunday at 4 p m Lions Club will host its traditional egg hunt at Rotary Park announced by Jim Myers general chairman. 18 dozen eggs colored under supervision of Gloria Kwernden with prizes for three age groups.
Easter Sunday April 18 at 5 am in Myrtle Crest school gymnasium hosted by Interchurch Fellowship with Rev John Wood of the Methodist church as worship leader. Trombonist Mike Martman to sound the atrus nasal gal, James Chithh to present aria, Rev George Williams to give message "The Empty Tomb." Public invited.
The Presbyterian church schedules Maundy Thursday communion at 7:30 PM on April 15 and Easter Sunday services including a 9:45 AM Sunday School program and 11:00 AM worship. The Inter-Church Fellowship hosts a sunrise service at Myrtle Crest gym. The Methodist church observes Maundy Thursday communion at 8 PM and holds Easter Sunday worship at 11 AM with Sunday School at 9:48 AM.
UV Arepeeery retiree Linn and Elton Schroeder resign from leadership roles in the Home Funds drive. Schroeder leaves county chairman ship, succeeded by Dick Jamegerd. Linn retires as county treasurer, active since 1938. Myrtle Point reports 3701.87 raised, with 8324.41 linked to Mothers March chaired by Mrs Check.
Two Willamette Valley students embarked on a four day river trek from Eugene to Portland along the Willamette River. They, duping Roger Weed of Myrtle Point, a sophomore Mac French of Coos Bay, reached Portland after about 165 miles and four days with several weather setbacks soaking gear.
Community Good Friday services at the Church of The Nassrene will be held Friday and include a hour long service with prayers and a brief sermon. Parishioners are invited to participate and observe silence.
After Sunday services at the Church of the Brethren the 11 am message titled Christ Triumphant will be delivered by Pastor George Williams. At 7 30 pm a dramatization of the Bible story Good Friday to the Ascension will be shown by professional actors with a 110 piece symphony orchestra. The public is invited to this presentation with no admission charge or offering.
A disappointing night at the Spike Leelie Relays in North Bend saw the Bobcats place fourth in the team standings. The Bobcats posted 34 points with Iowa high point results noted alongside Coquille and Ban don in the field.
Cresters set track meets at aca events in Bandon and Brookings Friday at 4 30 p m in a triangle format. The Reedsport dual meet was canceled by rain last week and Reedsport will visit May 1 along with Gold Beach to form another triangle meet.
Joseph H. Thomas, 24, CEO quille, listed in good condition at Mast hospital in M. Point after a one car crash on Highway 42 three miles east of Bridge Sunday at about 4 40 pm. State Police said the vehicle was eastbound and ran into a ditch and overturned several times, throwing the driver out.
Voters defeated the school district 41 budget by 95 votes with 272 yes, 272 no from a 630 total. Powers district passed by six votes 104 yes 96 no. Coquille budget approved 228 yes 173 no. Myrtle Point area results show Arago 21 yes 38 no, Bridge 47 yes 24 no, Broadbent 14 yes 60 no, Dora 20 yes 7 no, Myrtle Crest 170 yes 238 no. Board later voted to return the budget for May 3 with no changes after a three hour session.
