The Myrtle Veterinary hospital opened Monday in a new masonry building on Roseburg road. Dr. Robert Whittaker said the climate friendly design includes inside outside running pens and window walls for dry exercise. The facility houses reception, offices, examination, surgery, pharmacy laboratory, treatment tub, kennel and storage rooms. Dr. Robert Haug was away at a veterinary short course in Pullman. Contractors include Craig Parrott Coquille as general, Ray Harris Myrtle Point for plumbing, Floyd Bridg ham Myrtle Point for electrical, Pyramid block company for blocks, and Stanley Schrag Sr. as mason.
A drivers license examiner will be on duty in Myrtle Point at city hall on Wednesday April 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Those seeking original licenses or permits should arrive early to complete the required tests.
Myrtle Point FFA and FHA chapters hosted a banquet at the high school cafeteria to honor youths and their supporters. Awards included Junior Degree to Patty Jones and Gerri Clement.
