Security Bank announces temporary offices in the Myrtle Hotel building on Sth Street due to remodeling at 508 Spruce Street. Construction by Baughman and Son of Coos Bay bids $106,200 for the project with fixtures at $17,000 and is expected to finish about August 1.

Methodists Underwrite $32,000 Building Loan at Myrtle Point

Myrtle Point Methodist congregation backs a $32,000 construction loan. At a March 31 victory service 40 families gave cash and pledges totaling $1,700. two year goals reach $13,156 with $2,187.50 cash received. Crusaders made 98 percent of calls. youth and children pledged $807.60. Sixty five donors and a Monday Crusaders dinner supported the drive.

Eddie Wells son of Mr and Mrs Lloyd Wells was named Outstanding Explorer Scout of Post 9 at a banquet attended by 85 scouts parents and friends. Scouts cooked and served the banquet and George Woolley received a gift of appreciation while Vern Wertz Post advisor was given a wrist watch as a token of appreciation.

Elks Elect Stan Hogate Exalted Ruler in Coquille Lodge

Stan Hogate manager of Oregon-Nevada Fast Freight in Coquille was unanimously chosen Exalted Ruler of Coquille Valley Elks lodge 1935 at the March meeting. Officers elected include Ritchie Francis as Leading Knight, Jack Sturza Loyal Knight, Dr. Robert Haug Lecturing Knight, Ralph Whitaker secretary, Ken Kistner treasurer, John O'Sullivan tyler, Ray Bartley trustee. Installation occurred April 2. 27 new members were initiated, bringing total initiates this term to 70.
