Cooperation earns bigger fair receipts in 1913
The Enterprise notes the 1913 fair weather and larger crowds than last year. Gate receipts reached about $1,860 over three days, with nearly double the animals in the hoste de partment. Cattle entries were down due to costs and tuberculosis testing, while garden and culinary displays impressed judges. Prof. H. D. Scudder of Corvallis predicted many local displays could win at the State Fair.

Thursday races list results for Race No 1 and Race No 2. Shamrock Bay owner Kinicut jockey D Fisher won Race No 1 with Time 51 3 6. Race No 2 featured a trotting pace over one mile two with Velma Bay owned by Norton and Wahke Bay ridden by Ward finishing in times around 2:28 and 2:27.

Wresting Exhibition and Auto Race Headlines at Saturday Meet
After the speed program the committee staged extras led by a wrestling exhibition featuring Jack Wright and "Smiling Dutch" Merland. Dutch lost the first fall to Lutze in a Curry county bout, then Wright won the final two. The crowd also saw buggy horse races and a five mile auto race where Moon’s Huomobile and Slade’s Ford from Coquille competed, with Moon taking heat two and Ford winning heat three.

Good Roads Candidate Featured At County Fair
The fair opened with a large banner over the entrance urging visitors to vote for Good Roads. A sideshow featured a harness race won by Velma Z and other displays included brick and tile by Tracy Bros and an ore exhibit by Salmon Mountain Gold Mining Co. George Starr led with 11 firsts. his wife set four entries with nine firsts. A 38 Colt revolver was reported missing and reward offered.

The Coos County W C T U held its fourth annual convention at the Christian church in this city on September 10 and 11. An oratorical recital was given by Mrs Eva Craven Wheeler.
