Robbery at Marshfield hotel leads to jail term for Irving Canfield
Irving Canfield pleaded guilty to robbing Geo. B. Antrim of Myrtle Point at a Marshfield hotel. He received thirty days in the county jail with hard labor and was taken to Coquille after the confession. Antrim, once a justice of the peace in Indiana, helped guests after the theft, while Canfield registered under an alias Bud Davis.

J. W. Hammerberg Dies at Bandon Pioneer of Coos County
J W Hammerberg a noted Coos County pioneer and lumberman died at Bandon hospital after a short illness at age 74. Born in Sweden he moved to Coquille Valley in 1875, married Alice Lowe in 1879, and was a charter Mason member active in Shrine circles. Funeral held in Coquille.

The Enterprise force will halt the gasoline engine powering both the press and the linotype to stage a large fruit lunch. W. H. Carlile brings two Gloria Monday apples, likely prized more than the traditional apple of discord. Carlile’s trees yielded 58 peers this year and include 24 ounces of apple butter and 22 ounces of cider foundation.
