Dimmick Family Completes 700 Mile Walk to Coquille
Mr and Mrs H R Dimmick and their six year old son finished a months long walk from San Francisco to Coquille. They crossed the mountains via Ukiah Bartlett Springs Dunsmuir Roseburg and arrived in Coquille after three months on the road. The trip served as a vacation with ideal weather and no major accidents, though Oregon roads were rough near the end.

Log raft Benson adrift near Point Gorda sighted by Wastenaw
The Benson log raft, eight miles south of Point Gorda California, which left the Columbia river in tow of the tug Hercules last Monday afternoon bound for San Diego, was spotted at 1 40 p m yesterday by the steamship Wastenaw under Captain Graham. Roanoke officers reported further details.

Joseph Ferry Sr born September 3 1831 in Luzerne county Pa died September 19 1911 at his Riverton Oregon home aged 80 years 3 days He mined in PA and CA before settling in Coos county Oregon in 1857 He pre empted on the Coquille river moved to Riverton 1898 ran coal mines and mercantile business served as sheriff and postmaster He married in 1897 to Mrs J W Floyd deeply mourned by five children including Joseph Ferry Jr and Rosa Ferry.
