Pythian Sisters Celebrate Lundy Hall Reception in Honor of Mrs Mabel A Roberts

The Pythian Sisters of Coos County held a large reception at Lundy Hall for Mrs Mabel A Roberts newly elected Grand Chief of the Oregon Grand Domain. Delegations came from Coos, Coquille, and Bandon with speeches, toasts, and dancing followed by an all in one evening of fraternal events.

Vetter and Kappal Tie The Knot At Johnsons Mill

Mr G F Vetter and Miss Ray Kappal were married at high noon last Sunday November 16 by Rev Thos Barklow at the groom's home near Johnsons Mill. A company of invited friends attended and a wedding dinner followed.

Miss Maude Olive Butler married Walter Ray Barklow last Thursday evening at the home of Rev. Thos Barklow in the presence of a few witnesses. A shower for the couple was held the prior Wednesday at the bride’s sister’s home with about forty guests. The newlyweds will reside with their parents for now and later move to Marshfield.

Good Roads Meeting Backed Bond Issue Plans North Bend

North Bend hosts a Good Roads meeting on December 2 to push a 440000 bond issue for a trunk road from Myrtle Point through Coquille Marshfield North Bend to Glasgow and Lakeside and from Bandon south to Curry county. Delegations from Lakeside Ten Mile and Coquille pressed for northern and eastern routes while others urged the Bay Coquille trunk first. A December 2 follow up in Coquille aims to resolve disputes and secure bond votes.

Laborer Injured in South Fork Dynamite Blast

Carl Cline a laborer in Bill Paes camp on the South Fork was badly hurt last Friday afternoon in a dynamite explosion. He suffered a head cut a base skull fracture a broken collar bone and multiple rib injuries. He is at White Cross Hospital and has regained consciousness with favorable recovery prospects.
