Death of Nathen H. Ingram in Deer-Hunting Accident

Nathen Henry Ingram died instantly when a hunting companion, Ray Hyde, shot him in the breast in a Cherry Creek gulch accident Sunday morning. Mark Brown and Hyde fled the scene. Ingram’s body was found Monday forenoon. Funeral held at Fox Bridge Church with large attendance. Born August 15, 1883 near Gravel Ford Accutt. married Roxie E. Bright January 3, 1910. survived by wife, two daughters, father, mother, three sisters, two brothers, and other relatives.

Nellie May Knight Weds Dwight Culver in Home Ceremony

At noon on Sunday October 29 at the Knight home in this city, Nellie May Knight married Dwight Culver of Bridge. Elder Thos Barklow officiated as flowers and arches decorated the parlor. Forty guests attended before a wedding dinner. They departed Monday for a trip visiting Will Knight in North Yakima and will settle on the Culver ranch near Bridge.

Myrtle Point approves final sewer assessment and alley work

The Myrtle Point City Council, in an adjourned meeting, approved the equalized assessment for a sewer district with typical 50 by 95 foot lots costing about 33.15 per owner and authorized the City Recorder to finalize payments. The Recorder was also instructed to notify about alley improvement in Block ten and to pay Langston Construction Co. the balance on the Block 11 alley contract.

Attorney Opinion Says Naturalized Father Citizenship Papers Not Required

Salem Oregon October 27 Assistant Attorney General issues opinion that a person who became a U S citizen through naturalization of his father need not show his father's citizenship papers when registering The ruling challenges a practice used by county clerks and states there is nothing in the law requiring such proof by the citizen through his father.

Elimination of Grade Crossings Planned in Oregon

The Oregon public service commission will convene a conference in Salem to discuss steps for removing dangerous grade crossings. County state and railway officials will be invited, with a call to be issued early next week. Commissioner F J Miller said the need is great due to annual fatalities at crossings. Members of the state highway department and county courts are expected to attend.

Three Miners Die in Beaver Hill Coal Mine Blast

An explosion at Beaver Hill coal mine last night killed three miners and injured two. Dead are Chas Ferreri, 40, Martin Bomar, 49, and John Lowe known as Scotty, 48, with families in South Inlet, North Bend, and Oakland. Injured Thomas Harrison and Thomas McKelvie sustained non life threatening injuries. The blast occurred on the lower level around 8 30 after night crew arrived, likely due to gas and coal dust, with no ensuing fire. Twelve men were on shift. five were on the lower gangway when the explosion happened midway from the shaft.

Child Dies at Age Three in Lee

Greta Margaret Lewis, daughter of Mr and Mrs Dan Lewis of Lee, died Monday October 30. Funeral services were held at Gravel Ford on Tuesday conducted by Elder Thos Barklow. She was three years four months and eleven days old.

Bishop Child married Thursday. Elder Thos Barklow conducted the funeral of the Bishop’s little daughter crushed when a felled tree toppled the house. The family bore injuries.
