Enthusiastic fans witnessed a lopsided ball game Sunday as Myrtle Point defeated Coquille 18 to 4. Poland led the locals with a steady all around performance supported by the team despite sixth inning errors that allowed four Coquille runs.

Alex Sturdivant died suddenly at about 6 30 PM Monday after a hemorrhage while water ing his mule. He was 29 and survived by parents five brothers and four sisters. Funeral held Norway cemetery Wednesday led by Rev Thomas Barklow with burial in Coos County. He left Myrtle Point for the mountains and was known for kindness and a wide circle of friends.
The family of Alexander Sturdivant expresses hearty thanks to neighbors and friends who provided assistance and comfort during the last rites. J. M. Sturdivant and family gratefully acknowledge the sympathy shown.

The incident near Sugar Loaf Mountain involved Dr. M. O. Stemmler and Warren Deyoe in a near fatal encounter when a three foot diameter fir tree toppled across the road blocking a route to Bridge. Ira Cornelius driving the opposite stage stopped in time as the tree swayed and calamity was averted. The two parties walked to a ranch house for help and the road was cleared after the road supervisor was alerted.
The Oregon Trunk secures a contract to build a mammoth bridge over the Columbia at Celilo Falls. The project costs about 1.5 million dollars, features twenty nine spans, must finish by January 1 1912, lengthing 8960 feet with the longest span at 350 feet.
Dr. Leslie G. Johnson moves his offices to a new suite over Spires drug store. The suite houses modern medical and surgical appliances and a connected laboratory for sputum tests to detect consumption, supplementing existing equipment.
