The Presbyterian church holds a public pastoral installation Tuesday May W at 8 p m with Rev J C Einnger presiding and delivering questions. Rev Adolph Heberly will charge the pastor and Rev Frank R Zugg will charge the people. Special choir music will accompany the service.
Dr. Stemmler treated Fred Massey’s three year old after an air gun mishap seven miles up the river. The unloaded gun’s full air chamber inflated the child’s hand when the trigger was pulled. Geo. B. Adams of Myrtle Point traveled along the coast interviewing stockmen and plans to exhibit his Morgan-Percheon stallion Black Prince as far south as Smith River California. The horse is described as a beauty and well suited to the region with a season planned between Gold Beach and Winchuck River.
Reports describe a severe hail storm in Roseburg on Monday afternoon with up to three inches of hail and heavy rain. The event is blamed on last Sunday's warm spell, and farmers fear significant crop damage while autos from Marshfield and Coquille reappeared on local streets.

Louis Hill continues a state tour inviting commercial clubs from Coos Bay to Roseburg to inspect a potential railroad from eastern Oregon wheat belt toward Coos Bay. The May 9 report notes Hill and a party of bankers will visit Roseburg soon, traveling east through eastern Oregon and returning to Portland via Medford and Klamath Falls.
Douglas county and Roseburg press ahead with efforts to secure an east west railroad line reaching Coos Bay the only natural deep water harbor in Oregon. Eugene Medford Drain and other communities back the bid to become a mainline division point for Southern Oregon. A visit by Mr Hill is sought to showcase resources timber coal and potential routes with favorable grades and curves.
Jas Pearson, longtime Myrtle Point resident, died after an abdominal obstruction operation in Marshfield hospital. He was 78. Arrangements say funeral Tuesday with Rev Batklow officiating. He leaves two sons in California and a step-daughter Mrs Wm Weekly of Gravel Ford.
M M Young of Seattle has leased Minard's mill 14 miles up the east fork and will operate it at once. The water powered mill processes about 8000 daily now with plans to reach 15000. He will run a general custom business serving the local lumber trade. Memorial Day observances are set by the G A R Myrtle Point with a sermon at the Latter Day Saints church on Sunday the 29th and civic groups to join in honoring the nation's dead.

Myrtle Point opened the season with an 8 to 1 victory over Norway. Pollen stood out as a live wire from start to finish contributing heavily to the win. Batteries were Pollen and Prey for Myrtle Point and Clinton and Barklow for Norway.
A petition signed by Coos County Bar Association members endorses Judge Hamilton for re election as circuit judge of the Second Judicial District. It is stated Judge Coke will also receive unanimous bar support for re election.
