Two Day-One Fatal Accidents At Logging Camps
A logging camp incident at Camp 6 injured Will Preston when a wrapped line around a tree recoil fractured his skull. he is expected to recover at Mercy Hospital North Bend. Fritz Mettler, from Camp 8, died from injuries after being thrown and landed on his shoulders. he died at Myrtle Point after transport to Dr Pemberton’s emergency hospital. Mettler, born May 20 1883 in Russia, left relatives there. funeral was at Norway Cemetery at 2 PM officiated by Elder Chas Barklow.

Death of Mrs Dick Buell 31 Funeral at Myrtle Point
Mrs Iris May Cornelius Buell died of heart failure at 31 years in Myrtle Point on June 18 1917. She married A W Buell in 1906 and was mourned by husband and extended family. Elder Roy Slye presided at the service held at their home with interment at Aly Myrtle Point cemetery.
