Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Liljeqvist plans to resign if the Supreme Court upholds a judge's ruling that the referendum based special election law is unconstitutional. The salary, $50 a month, is seen as inadequate for the duties. he was appointed county attorney at $1,800 annually under the new order. The office bill awaits referendum, delaying from June 3, with November election uncertain.

City Council Notes and Water Policy at Semi Monthly Meeting
Four council members plus the mayor and recorder met to discuss the Oregon Power company franchise. The water committee recommended free drinking water at fair grounds during the fair and races, with a charge for stock water. The street committee was authorized to hire someone to sweep paved streets thrice weekly and to seek bids for ongoing work.
