Benjamin Perry died Monday at his home at Harris and Sixth streets from typhoid fever contracted likely in a logging camp near Coquille. Born in Gardiner, Oregon, he was 35 years old and left a wife and several children. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Brethren church, with interment in the Norway cemetery as relatives attended from Gardiner.

Amputation Follows Rock Fall At Lindberg Camp Tunnel
Victor Aho a laborer suffered a crushed leg after a rock collapsed in the tunnel at Lindberg's camp on the new railroad line south of town. He was freed after two workers moved the rock with crowbars and taken to White Cross hospital where surgeons amputated below the knee. Aho had joined local crews from Portland months ago. this is Willett and Burr's first serious accident since starting last fall.

Rancher Stephen Reed Injured in Hay Rack Accident
Stephen Reed of Sunrise area sustained a compound fracture of his left leg above the ankle Saturday morning while riding on a hay rack in a field. A tree broke, the team ran, he jumped off, his foot twisted in a hole, and Dr. M O Stemmler set the fracture. he is doing as well as could be expected given the serious injury.
