Fertilizer Valuation Of Spoiled Hay Says Prof Scudder
Oregon Agricultural College agronomist Prof H D Scudder argues spoiled hay has high soil fertility value. He cites that one ton of clover hay contains nitrogen phosphorus and potassium worth 10 to 15 dollars, equating to 30 to 45 dollars per acre when three tons per acre are present. He urges composting and careful use rather than burning or neglect.

Quarter ending June 30 1918 the State Engineer issued two water permits in Cool county Regon alds Development Company of Marshfield obtained a permit to divert Coal Bank Creek for domestic use manufacturing and to supply Libby Bay Park Bunker Hill West Bunker Hill and part of Marshfield The water is diverted from Sec 10 Twp 26 S R 18 W S D Barrows of Bandon secured a permit to irrigate 20 acres from Johnson Creek to be diverted in Sec 9 Two 29 S R 14 W In total 114 permits were issued for water appropriation generating 14000 horsepower with 15 for new reservoirs totaling 77487 acre feet of water.

Statewide changes in Oregon law place Coos County in Game District 1 with elk beaver and young deer protected year round. Open deer season with horns August 1 to October 31 and a bag limit of three. Waterfowl season September 15 to December 31 with a bag limit of thirty birds in seven days.
