The Norfolk area marked its Natal Day with a parade, speeches by W H Bunch, and music by the Myrtle Point band. Miss Mabel Houghton read the Declaration while Albina Radabaugh stood as liberty goddess and Gussié Nelson as angel of peace. An evening bowery dance drew a thousand-plus attendees with races, games, and a veiled flag ascent, plus a Norway victory in a local ball game. Adjourned Republican assembly in Coquille chose candidates and delegates. A millinery store fire in Coquille caused $4,000 loss with $2,000 insured. building owner John Golden also faced $2,000 damage.

Myrtle Point Wins Mail Contracts and Water Works Progress
The Myrtle Point mail routes to Roseburg Coquille Port Orford Rural Eckley Fairview with annual totals near 21 339 dollars were awarded to six contractors led by C B Barnard. Water pipe for the improved system arrived, with more shipments planned as work starts. Miss Laura Wise and Charles Taylor wed at The Dalles, a Myrtle Point teacher moves to a homestead in Lake County.

Renter Leaves Foote Ranch in Douglas County
W R Foote resumes control of his Nor way ranch after renter vacates without notice. The lease holder W M Schmidt bought stock and sold to his brother in law Mr Walker who then resold it. Foote notes $350 rent due Nov 1 and no hay refilling since leasing. Schmidt hailed from Elkton in Douglas County. The owner recalls a single bob tailed hen left on site.

Cook and Curry county Medical society met at Myrtle Point last week with Drs Mingus and Dix from Marshfield Gulin from Coquille and John son and Stemmler from the locality in attendance Officers were elected and society business addressed Questions of interest to the profession were discussed An effort was made to involve more physicians and to improve future attendance The group also seeks public engagement on health sanitation and related general interest topics.

Johnson Wins in a Packed Reno Boxing Fight
