Marriage Bells Mark Pearl May Benson In Myrtle Point
The June 27 ceremony united Pearl May Benson and William Fries Hendricks at the Benson home with Rev. C. E. Botts officiating. A large guest list attended the event with a detailed, traditional Presbyterian service and reception. Mr. and Mrs. Hendricks plan to reside with the Bensons until September 30.

Meade firm to stay in Coos county plan wintering tour
Mr Meade manager of the Margaret Iles company says they will remain in Coos county after their vacation and play weekly engagements at Marshfield North Bend Ban on Coquille and Myrtle Point. He adds the team will be strengthened by several players for the coming season to handle heavier plays. Eugene Cox a miner at Beaver Hill is in Mercy hospital North Bend with a fractured skull from a coal chunk. Will Copple a Jeffrey place worker near Pony Slough is in hospital with a forehead fracture. Howard Soloman in Smith Powers camp suffered crushed hips from a log accident. B B Bartlett of Catching Creek brought a six and a half foot sample of alsyke clover cut by the mowing machine. Bartlett notes the grass was partly underwater early season but now good for low wet ground. Ray Haines seeks a Portland Journal scholarship and is soliciting subscriptions to that publication to start through school.

Human Ostrich Durga Undergoes Major Stomach Surgery
Mercy hospital in North Bend operated on Frank Durga nicknamed the human ostrich after years of a junk diet. Doctors Bartle and Gale removed numerous metal and glass items from his stomach including knives shells keys nails and coins. Durga, about 44 and American born, has lived on Coos Bay for months and earned only pennies in return.
