Grandmother Lamb Passes at 83 in Oregon Rural Home

Grandma Lamb born in Tennessee May 8 1830 died December 31 1918 at the home of her step daughter Mrs Ike Chandler near Lee Oregon at age 83 years 7 months 23 days. She moved to Missouri at five, married John Jackson with four children two living, Jackson died in Civil War. She married Samuel Freeman producing three sons all dead. Moved to Coos County 1873 married James Lamb 1874 one son remains in California. Lamb died March 1907. Funeral at Gravel Ford United Brothers church 1 PM last Friday Rev Thos Barklow officiated. burial Gravel Ford cemetery. J D Hayes summoned to Coquille as witness in Vaughn horse stealing case before Judge Coke.

Myrtle Club Elects 5 Directors At Annual Meeting

The Myrtle Club of Myrtle Point elected a five member board for the coming year. New governance includes Dr. L G Johnson, H M Fensler, C E Huling, T T Dement and C Milton Schulz. The group discussed hosting a larger Fourth of July celebration for the upper Valley. The board also re elected officers: Dr L G Johnson as president, C E Huling as vice president, and C Milton Schulz as secretary treasurer.

Shooting Affair at the Right Cafe in Marshfeild

Mrs. Lottie Cappions discharged a 32 caliber revolver in the Right Cafe at Marshfeild last Monday afternoon. Elmer Parkinson a waiter said she was trying to shoot him. She was bound over to the grand jury and is in the county jail at Coquille.

Missing Diamond Case Ties Ruby Simpson to Band on Halloween

Deputy Sheriff E M Blackerby to investigate the loss of a diamond. Miss Ruby Simpson, a prominent young woman in Bandon, attended Hamlin’s Halloween party. Hamlin seeks the ring via Deputy Blackerby, believing Simpson has it. Simpson is arrested December 4 on a warrant by Hamlin, released on $75 bond, and bound over to circuit court after December 23 hearing.

Student departures for Eugene State University

Miss Myrl McCloskey travels Friday to Eugene to resume studies at the State University. She is accompanied by Miss Leta Mast of Coquille who will enroll as well. De los Davenport and Allie Bartlett also depart to visit relatives and friends in California.
