Boiler Blast At Massey Mill Injures Two Men
The Massey saw mill boiler exploded Monday morning on the South Fork, scattering machinery and injuring Emery and Elton Robbins who were nearby. Elton suffered severe scalds but is recovering, Emery was bruised and unconscious briefly. The blast destroyed the building and sent a 1500 pound fly wheel flying. Funeral services were held for Mr. Dulley, a longtime Coos county settler and former state legislator who served as county treasurer since 1900.

Mrs. Hulda Matilda Bargeltnee McCormick aged 37 years 11 months 26 days died December 26 1908 after months of illness. She leaves husband Lester C. Bargelt and three sons Hallet Harold and Paul. Burned to Death in Marshfield Home Tragedy
Mrs Walter Keating, longtime Coos Bay resident, burned to death at her Marshfield home on Wednesday morning at age sixty five. Clothing likely ignited while she refilled a kerosene lamp. This marks the third tragic Keating family death after a double past losses.

County Treasurer Dies at Coquille at 74
County Treasurer John B. Dulley died at his home in Coquille near noon Monday the 28th from paralysis. He was 74 years old and had suffered speech loss for months yet retained his faculties and attended to his duties.

Henry Bright aged nearly 81 died on the 29th at his Gravel Ford home. The funeral was held Wednesday with interment in Gravel Ford cemetery. Elder Ward of the U B church conducted services at the grave. Bright was a Virginia native and brother of James Bright of Gravel Ford. He was an early California miner and had lived in Coos county for 13 or 14 years.

Funeral for Early Settler Wm Klahn in Empire
Mrs. Klahn and Mrs. Ploeger traveled to Marshfield on Saturday for the funeral of Wm Klahn an early settler who died Christmas morning at Empire He was 66 and survived by his wife and four children The two sisters are spouses of Mr Klahn’s siblings and returned to Myrtle Point on Tuesday.
