City council discusses selling 22900 in bonds for water works upgrades including 4920 feet of 8 and 11 inch pipe and 15310 feet of 4 inch pipe plus ditching fittings hydrants and survey costs. Resevoir repair and spring station expansion planned with bids to follow if bonds pass.
Notice states a February 25 1909 municipal election in Myrtle Point Coos County Oregon. Voters will decide on issuing Water Bonds series B for twenty five thousand dollars to fund maintenance improvement enlargement and operation of the city waterworks and to buy necessary supplies. Election at City Recorder office from eight in the morning to five in the afternoon.
Beautiful sacred production Queen Esther staged at the Benson opera house Tuesday and Wednesday under Martin E. Robinson by Myrtle Point public schools. The show impressed with costuming, sets, drills, music, and acting though not flawless. Prof. Robinson drilled the cast for three weeks and Miss Elsie Lewellen accompanied at the piano.
A theatre report notes that many duos trios and solos were well received. The little girls who served as pages to the king and queen were among the popular cast members. Prof. Robinson traveled to Coquilie yesterday to direct a production of Pinafore.
A Myrtle Point G A R hall event drew Department Commander J T Apperson of Portland for a well attended evening. He praised reform needs at the Roseburg soldiers home and pledged to press changes amid a warm banquet hosted by Circle ladies and a glow of army songs.
John Prock suffered serious injuries after a snag pinned him with a fallen log while cutting brush on swampy Elk River land last week. He sustained two broken ribs near the heart, and the ground was soft enough to prevent instant death.
