Fae Union Meeting At Myrtle Point Joins Growth Effort
The Myrtle Point branch of the Farmers Educational and Cooperative Union of America held a well attended meeting to revive activities and boost membership. Delegations from Coquille and county agriculturist J L Smith attended with talks by district organizer Frank Burkholder and others. About a dozen new names were added and a second meeting was scheduled for February 21 1914 amid concerns over poultry feed adulteration investigations by the agriculture department.

McDonald Arrested in Marshfield for False Draft Scheme
H G McDonald was arrested by Officer Walter Richardson on a warrant from Justice Pennock's court for obtaining money under false pretenses. Sneddon endorsed a $25 draft under letters claiming Chapin's credit. Chapin refused the draft at First National Bank. McDonald, from Eckley, claimed to be a teacher and said he came from Behnectady to Alaska chasing mining profits.

Secretary of State Olcott issues pamphlets outlining updated Oregon campaign rules. Key deadlines include April 10 for nominating petitions for national and state offices, April 14 for mailing notices to judges and clerks, April 15 for filing petitions, April 23-25 for clerk filing and ballot printing, and May 1 to close registration if not prior. Roseburg, Ore. Feb 6. R E L Bedillion a Bandon Woolen Mills stockholder and Coos county figure visits Roseburg on business while promoting better roads. He backs a passable Roseburg to Myrtle Point highway arguing it would boost Coos Bay tourism and valley trade and expects Coos County bonds to finance the Myrtle Point road with shared Douglas county funds to follow.
