Young Myrtle Point trio drown in Coquille River tragedy
Three youths from Myrtle Point were drowned on Sunday afternoon in the East Fork of the Coquille River near Gravel Ford. Philip Robinson, 14, Willie Brumbaugh, 20, and Morgan Shook, 17, were the victims after their boat Nakomis swung from the landing and the trio attempted to aid with a pike pole. Rescue efforts recovered their bodies about 7 pm. Funeral services followed for Morgan Shook and Philip Robinson. Brumbaugh and Robinson were buried in a double service at the Christian church, Myrtle Point.
