In a Monday afternoon near Band on the steamer Dora crossed paths with the Coquille causing a brief collision. The Dora held position while the Coquille attempted to pass, ship its water in the bow, and the Dora would have grounded the Coquille if not for slow bell. H J Keough, now wire chief with Coquille Valley Telephone Co, was in town and will work with Bert Chinton and Isom Chinton to support the line crew under a single experienced supervisor.

What Our New Farmers Are Doing In Oregon Schools
A Botany Class at M. P. H. S. in Oregon resumes work on a school garden north of the building under Prof. M. M. Stastney. Each pair of students gets a plot of eighteen by twenty feet to plant as they choose, with borders of sweet corn. Ground prep by Grover Wilson, seeds soon to be planted, and terms secured from JM Arrington. The students hope to win prizes at the second annual fair in September.

Junior class play Well Attended at Benson’s Opera House
The Myrtle Point Junior Class presented Esmeralda to a large, appreciative audience at Benson’s Opera House last Saturday. Earnest Root as Mr Rogers and Nellie Barton as Esmeralda led strong performances with solid supporting work from Dave Rackleff and Jack Desmond’s studio crew. The production featured music from the high school under Prof. C A Davidson and was directed by Supt. A T Park, drawing an encouraging turnout and positive reception.

Died at Coquille Clark Bunch obituary notice
Clark Bunch died in Coquille after a yearlong illness following an appendicitis operation. He was about 34 years old, a Dora resident for twelve years, and leaves a wife and two children. The body was moved to Dora for burial by Oscar Bunch and M. C. Miller. Mrs. Bunch of Roseburg and Andrew Bunch of Roseburg are in town.
