A Manila American faces torture charges after police investigations detail alleged abuses. The case outlines the accused’s actions and the offense under local law, with authorities pledging further updates as proceedings commence.
Washington reports the War Department ordered an inquiry into charges that Private Ed yard Richter died at Dasmarinas while a prisoner. The Manila American alleged a lieutenant commanded a detachment and tortured Richter by bound hands and feet as gallons of ice water were poured on his face.
The Allied party, uniting reform forces against plutocracy, will hold a national convention April 2 at Liederkranz hall Louisville. Represented groups include Socialist Union Labor Union Reformers of Ohio Public Ownership party of St Louis Liberal party and Union Christian party. The gathering follows a Kansas City meeting last September to form a temporary name.
Mrs. William McGuire and Modesto F. Sanches, brother and sister, inherit from their grandfather in Santa Fagus, Mexico. Sanches, a leading sheep and cattle man, is valued at 700 000 to 1 600 900 dollars. Mrs. McGuire is married to a Wyoming butcher shop clerk.
Sunday morning Mrs McCormick living ten miles below the city on the island was feeding chickens when a cow knocked her down. Dr J L Klein of this city said there are no internal injuries or broken bones and she will be out in a few days. It was a narrow escape and could have been more serious.
James Patton, 28, a farm tenant on C. F. Gaetter’s Big Island farm, was kicked in the stomach by a 3 year old colt while breaking it. He dragged himself three quarters of a mile to John Schuck’s home and died there at 8 PM Saturday after 24 hours of agony. Patton, single and well known around Milan, faced a tragic, widely felt loss.
Ethyl Blunt twelve year old daughter of Mr and Mrs G C Blunt of Milford Iowa died after eating highly colored candy. Doctors failed to save her despite their efforts. The incident occurred in Milford on March 31.
Marshalltown, March 31. George S Beatty, general passenger agent of the Iowa Central road, resigns to take effect May 1. He will enter the service of another company.
Kansas City March 21 The annual grand American handicap live bird tournament opened this morning under favorable weather conditions with competitors proceeding to the event's first rounds and spectators gathered for the start.

Des Moines reports a new organization at Highland Park college after the resignation of Prof C C Rearick. O H Longwell becomes president with J G Rounds as treasurer Z C Thornburg as secretary and trustees J B Dille of Dixon College Illinois and R A Crawford. The faculty remains unchanged and Longwell is noted as an esteemed educator and author of popular textbooks.
Alexander C. Pilson, a Louisville cabinet-maker, bought a pistol after bargaining over the price and had it loaded by a clerk. He then killed himself with the weapon, citing the loss of his position and fear for his family’s hunger.
