Fred Gilbert of Spirit Lake claimed the Sportsmen’s Review trophy after winning the fifty bird shooting match in Kansas City on March 29. Gilbert and J. A. R. Elliott tied at 47 of 59, W. R. Crosby trailed with four birds down. In the shoot-off, Gilbert struck ten straight while Fillett dropped three birds.

Lowell Mass March 24 The threatened strike of a thousand textile workers is off for the present. The decision came in a morning conference between mill agents the citizen committee and worker representatives. The committee pledged to use its power to secure the higher wages the workers sought.
Harriman Tennessee was nearly wiped out by a devastating flood. Reported damage exceeds a quarter of a million dollars and several lives are feared lost as rescue efforts unfold in the aftermath.
M I Finster of Eldora reports discovering a tin box in a door yard corner containing gold and silver coins. He believes a former miser stored the money there long ago and left it hidden.

Mount Ayr Iowa March 29 Miss Rachel Dickson from Middletown Ky learns of a $30000 Ringgold county Iowa estate left by Peter Barclay to his old flame The two lovers split after a quarrel and Barclay later married another woman before his death and the will to the sweetheart was made five years ago The story notes Dickson kept her memories and love for him through the years and says she did not expect the bequest.

A shepherd dog owned by C. E. Hayden traveled on foot over 200 miles in a week driven by homesickness. The dog had been on Hayden's farm northwest of Waterloo, Iowa, before Hayden moved with his family to Elk River Minnesota. The animal had accompanied stock in a railway car to the new home about three weeks earlier.
In Riceford Wisconsin authorities traced the poisoning of Mrs Rank and two children to a flood of dead rats found in the family well. A private dispatch described virulent poison in the water after a minute examination, revealing an army of decayed rats in the well which likely caused the illness.
