A powerful early season hurricane whipped Omaha causing damage across neighborhoods. Trees and power lines toppled while emergency crews assessed wreckage and residents secured homes. Local officials urged caution as restoration efforts began.
A violent night windstorm in Omaha damaged fifty buildings, unroofing structures, tearing sidewalks, and blowing out windows. St Paul March 11 The special session adjourned after a bill appropriating 20000 dollars to furnish the attorney general funds to prosecute the Northern Pacific and Great Northern merger.
The Court of Honor met last night at the hall at the corner of Towa Avenue and Second Street with fair attendance. Initiatory ceremonies were held for two candidates and four names were balloted. Ignatz Lowinger a Hungarian count from Temeswar Hungary shot himself at the McClelland Hotel in Waco Texas. He left Hungary about thirty years ago for political reasons and built a large fortune in Texas. He recently married a wealthy widow and appeared happy until his death.
Brigadier General Frederick Funston arrives on the Pennsylvania train at Union Station at 2 50 pm. He is met by W L Bush president of the Marquette club General Joseph B Leake vice president and Alderman Milton Foreman representing Mayor Harrison. The Marquette club hosts his stay as chief guest of honor with help from the Press club Chicago Yacht club and Board of Trade to ensure an enthusiastic welcome.
