Tonight a parade of civic patriotic and religious groups downtown ends at Jefferson field. At 8 p.m. Muscatine county common schools hold commencement at First Baptist church followed by a historical pageant at Jefferson field and free vaudeville on the levee. Street dancing on Sycamore from Front to Second. Wednesday features a 3 p.m. opening salute 3:10 p.m. address by Gov Clyde L Herring at Weed park 4 5:30 p.m. free vaudeville on levee and Jefferson 10 p.m. gigantic Mississippi river fireworks and more vaudeville on the levee.

Edwin Davison 66, a Rock Island railroad clerk since 1910, died at his home 1097 Lucas St at 6:30 am after two years of declining health from heart disease. Born May 28 1867 in Carthage Illinois, he moved to Iowa, taught in Appanoose county, then served in Muscatine. He leaves wife Amanda Ellen McFall and six children plus sisters and other relatives. Funeral Thursday at 2:30 pm at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral Home with burial at Greenwood Cemetery.
