Not to Act on District Cases in Iowa Second District
A Democratic candidate for Congress in Iowa’s second district, Nate D. Ely, chairman of the southern district exemption board, asks to be relieved from district case duties. The board explains Ely’s resignation request and its basis to avoid reflections on the draft, but the president declined to accept it. Ely was then relieved from county duties in the southern district, with only four of Iowa’s 57 counties in the second district. The notice says registrants will save time by using file affidavits for deferred classification or re-opening applications.
