Gray Fund Turns Toward Youth Center in Church
A year after Bill Gray 21 died in a truck train crash near Muscatine, supporters raised 931.35 for a Bill Grau Memorial Youth Center now planned for a space in Grace Lutheran church. The center would serve college to junior high youths with open access and no discrimination. The fund includes Bill Gray’s savings bonds and insurance. In Des Moines a man paid a 100 dollar fine after pleading guilty to slapping a cream pie into Karen Boot’s face in her yard.

Victimless theft hits two truck tires at local dealer
Two 7.50 by 16 six-ply tires valued at 134 dollars were stolen from a new truck at M. and M. Ford Sales over the weekend. James Meltzer of the firm reported the incident. A U.S. Royal and a Goodyear tire were taken. In Des Moines, Army PFC John Lowe, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Lowe, was killed in Vietnam. Lowe enlisted in October 1965 and served with the 1st Airborne Division since September.

West Liberty Residents File For Bankruptcy
Two West Liberty residents filed bankruptcy petitions in Federal District Court Des Moines this week. Dennis R. Descoteau, a former West Liberty high school and Central College football player, lists debts of 202700 and assets of 400 with 200 exempt. Mrs Genevera Hagen lists debts 204072 assets 6300 and 6100 exempt. They owe 200000 judgment from Johnson County District Court related to a Lone Tree accident July 3 1965 in which Descoteau driving a car registered to Hagen struck and killed two bicyclists.
