Utility Gives Go Ahead for Underground Wiring

Muscatine utility approves complete underground electric systems for all new subdivisions. The policy, adopted by the Muscatine Municipal Light and Water Board, requires the utility to pay for primary and secondary cables, transformers, and service pedestals. New homes must have 200 amp service, with conversions allowed for existing overheads at owner cost. Subdivision by Dr. J L Pearlman approved for waterworks and 22 lots off Fulham Avenue.

The Muscatine public light and water board approved a contract for the interchange of electrical power with the Eastern Iowa Light and Power Cooperative of Wilton. The agreement covers the tie in with Muscatine's South Substation and lines of Iowa Illinois Gas and Electric, with maintenance and operation details, transmission rights, and provisions for maintenance, emergency, and economy energy.

County Home Construction Bids Opened

Bids were opened this afternoon by the Muscatine county board of supervisors for a new addition to the county home. Two bidders submitted base bids for the general contract Henry Schaefer Construction Co Davenport 497200 with alternates and Laren Redball Co Town City 24743 with alternates. Mechanical and electrical contract bids were also opened and evaluated.

Park Lane Course Is Changing Subdivision Plans

A preliminary plat for Sunrise View subdivision was approved Tuesday by Muscatine Plan and Zoning Commission. The subdivision lies on land known as Park Lane Golf Course. The commission also recommended approval on the final plat of the Brossart-Lucas Second subdivision off Bidwell Road, east side just north of Weir Street.
