On June 9 Clark House opened a new tenant the Commission on Aging moved to the ground floor offices and will serve seniors from the new location. Activities include May 13 to 17 schedule of meals, clinics for age 58 plus, library visits, and potlucks with reminders about tax refunds and caregiving resources.
Atty Philip J Willson president elect of the Towa State Bar Association announces assignments of area lawyers to committees. Ed H Jones of Des Moines serves as secretary. Muscatine County names Charles R Coulter and others to committees on membership travel advisory administrative law grievances. Cedar County and Louisa County allocations follow with listed lawyers and roles.
Registrations remain open for summer classes offered by the Muscatine Park Commission. Section one of swimming is full. available courses include swimming sections two and three, tennis, volleyball, girls basketball, elementary, football skills, gymnastics, fitness and weight lifting, music, sketching and drawing, and drama. A high blood pressure screening program will be held at the Muscatine Mall on Saturday June 18. Sponsored by Scott Community College and the Iowa Heart Association the event aims to detect high blood pressure and refer affected individuals to doctors or treatment programs. The association warns of heart attack and stroke as major risks and notes many people have no symptoms. Blood pressure checks can detect and usually help control the condition.
Jan K. Lettenberger one of 14 Iowa area community college students who will transfer to Iowa State University Ames this summer and fall to enroll with special academic recognition. Lettenberger of Muscatine is in physical education for women with a 3.25 to 3.49 grade average. Deeds recorded Elsie A. Slater to Robert Lloyd and Norma King as joint tenants warranty deed land in section 17 77 3W. The mall program runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday offering a blood pressure check directed by Diana Lewis Jeri Day and Julie Null of Muscatine nursing graduates with the Iowa Heart Association urging participation.
