Santa Claus Visits Muscatine for Day of Christmas Wishes

Santa Claus and his six reindeer spent a full day in downtown Muscatine meeting children and recording Christmas wishes. Ta-Tuk Er-Tuk Iga-Luk and six Eskimo guides assist, with Alaskan Canadian dog musher Alex Boostrum in charge of the huskies Kazoon Yukon Chinook Klondyke Nig Ginger. Local schools closed early to view the visit arranged by Muscatine merchants.

Hoxsey Case Moves From Equity To Law Docket

The suit of Harry M. Hoxsey against Norman Baker over allegedly due contract sums from their Baker Institute partnership was transferred from equity to the law docket by Judge W. R. Maines. Defendants’ motion to transfer was granted with 10 days to plead, and a separate motion to strike parts of the filing was partly sustained. Attorneys J. G. Kammerer represented Hoxsey while J. F. Devitt C. P. Hanley and W. D. Randall appeared for Baker.

Strong Heads Redmen Lodge Elects Officers

Arthur Strong was chosen as part of the Redmen Lodge No. 95 officers on Thursday night. Clyde Nyenhuis Fred McCullum W. H. Deutschman Carl Neubauer Herbert Washburn Henry Schneider named for key posts. The group reported on a Fairfield meeting where a new lodge charter was presented. Iowa has 22 orphans with $10 each authorized as Christmas gifts. Installation set for January. Fred Hartman appointed deputy great sachem.

Four Bodies Unearthed Under Barn

In Williston North Dakota AP report Charles Bannon the Shafer tenant farmer told authorities that Mrs Elmer Haven’s body was buried on the Haven farm along with four other family members found earlier in a shallow grave under a barn lean to. State's Attorney J S Taylor said charges of first degree murder would be filed against Bannon and his father James who has vanished for Portland Oregon.

W A Matthews was reelected master workman of the Ancient Order of United Workmen for the coming year at the lodge on Iowa avenue. New Era Church to Mark Fortieth Anniversary

The Ziegler Memorial Lutheran church in New Era will observe the fortieth anniversary of the Pine Bluff Union Sunday School, a forerunner to Grace Lutheran and Ziegler Memorial. Victoria Mix alleges years of cruelty, separate travels with a circus, and a 1925 Ensenada trip during which she claims he abandoned friends and caused humiliation. Youth Sentenced for Chicken Theft

Ralph Marshal, 23, received an indeterminate sentence not to exceed five years at the Anamosa reformatory after pleading guilty to larceny of domestic animals. He was arrested in Davenport on local information for stealing over 100 chickens from Ed Schroeder in Montplier. Marshal waived a preliminary hearing. defense was by C. R. Stafford.

Death Claims Lee Overman Senator at 76

Washington AP A sudden illness today killed Lee Slater Overman of North Carolina at 76 after 28 years in the Senate. He died following an internal hemorrhage as he collapsed Thursday afternoon and was taken to Salisbury, his home, for burial. He had been a key Democratic figure, sponsor of wartime powers for Wilson and a longtime committee member. Overman entered the senate in 1903 and became a leading voice in his party. He is survived by a wife, two daughters, and other relatives. his body will be returned to North Carolina for interment.

Hollywood AP Charles A Whitmore building and loan commissioner announced that Gilbert Beesemyer secretary and mayor director admitted defalcations totaling several million dollars from the Guaranty Building and Loan Association. Beesemyer allegedly misappropriated up to 8 million affecting related firms in Los Angeles over nine years. He faced grand theft charges as custody was taken. Deposits exceeded the $11 million capitalization of the association and about 20 depositors were involved.

Sister Superior Mary Ita of St Irenaeus parish Clinton died at Our Lady of Angels Academy Clinton at 10 this morning. She joined the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary for 53 years and taught music at the academy for 33 years. She was born Pauline Maurath in 1873, daughter of Jering and Dubuque Maurath. Funeral services will be held at St Irenaeus Clinton.
