Young Girl of Holliday Dies in Utah Town

Miss Della Pauline Schmidt aged 16 died Tuesday at her Holliday home. Born September 7, 1900 she was the daughter of Mat and Anna Schmidt and lived in Holliday all her life. Survived by five brothers and three sisters, including Walter Schmidt Salt Lake Richard Schmidt Brigham City Albert Edwin Elmer Emma Lily Schmidt Holliday. Marriage licenses were issued this week to Samuel L. Millard Salt Lake and Nora Elizabeth Monk Murray and Jones L. Smith Agnes H. Fitzgerald Draper Utah.

Cottonwood Stake M Men Outing at Lagoon

The M Men of Cottonwood Stake plan their second annual outing at Lagoon resort on Friday July 20. The schedule includes a championship game between eastern and western division ball winners, dancing, and a social evening with partners, expected to attract many Cottonwood youths.

Death Notices Honor Local Fruit Grower Frank Barratt

Respected resident Frank Barratt died suddenly Saturday at 4 am after a day of heart issues. Born in American Fork in 1884, he lived in Murray and nearby areas, known for fruit industry work and leadership in Federated Fruit and Vegetables. Survived by wife Florence, children Bernice, Flaine Slater, Sherman, his parents, four brothers, and two sisters. Funeral held July 2 at Murray First Ward chapel. interment at Mill Creek cemetery.

Salt Lake County Firemen Hold Outing at Saratoga

Salt Lake County Firemen and friends gathered at Saratoga on July Whit for a basket lunch and a baseball game between the shopmen and road men. Commissioner Br. W. Labrom pitched for the shopmen with Ed Burt as pitcher for the road builders. score 5 to 0 in favor of the shopmen. The day included foot races bathing and dancing amid a jovial crowd.

July Carnival At MIA Creek Ward Draws Crowd

A July carnival similar to recent years was held Tuesday and Wednesday nights on the chapel grounds. ice cream candy and hot dogs were sold. Tuesday featured prize games and sports with awards. no movie was shown. Wednesday planned a dancing program. A good crowd attended both evenings.

School Board Lets Contract For Coal

The Murray Board of Education awarded the coal supply contract for the coming year to the Jordan Produce Company. Local dealers bid 6.00 per ton for mine slack and 7.40 per ton for lump, while Jordan offered the same price as the mine slack rate.
