Window Sales manship and the front window lesson
Elbert Hubbard recounts a naturalist tale to illustrate how fixed ideas trap buyers. A bass and minnows behind a glass barrier led to the minnow panic and the bass's failure to see new possibilities. The story mirrors earlier window display neglect but notes progress since 1925 with a national ad program guiding retailers to create engaging, educational front windows and coordinated advertising to attract customers. A local furniture store in June featured a popular furniture line as part of this evolving display effort.

Salt Lake County Firemen Battle Destructive House Fire
Firefighters under Chief Doughes Kneker fought for hours Wednesday afternoon to save the Malholland residence as flames menaced the area. A dozen fire units attacked from four directions aided by sacks and blankets to beat back the blaze amid strong south wind. One firefighter, Wiley Gordon, sustained a burn to a hand while extinguishing the blaze, which investigators attribute to improper disposal of embers.
