W. W. Club Christmas Dinner and Elections

Mrs Lena Collins hosted a seven oclock covered dish dinner for 12 members at her home. Officers elected for the year are Roxie Williams president and Marguerite Clark secretary treasurer. A Christmas basket for a needy family was approved. Mystery pal names were revealed and gifts exchanged. Grace Clayton read two pieces Santa Claus and Grandpa. The evening ended with card games and prizes to Mary Beard Marguerite Clark and Edna Fleener. The next meeting will be at Edna Pattersons January 10.

Mrs Elsie Rash Hosts Hosiery Shop Staff Christmas Dinner

Mrs Elsie Rash entertained employees of the Hosiery and Infant Shop and guests at a Christmas dinner at Robbs Coffee Shop. Decorations featured Christmas colors and a poinsettia centerpiece. After dinner the group visited her home and exchanged Christmas gifts.

Lennen Class Holds Christmas Social at First Methodist

The Gleaners 4 class of the First Methodist met on the church’s first floor Thursday for a Christmas social. Gifts for exchange were placed under a decorated tree. President Joy Jones led a brief business meeting, and Mrs. Omer Browning gave the devotional on The Birth of Christ. Carols were sung, followed by games, a gift exchange and refreshments.

The Horace Mann school P T A held its December meeting in the auditorium decorated for Christmas. A pageant titled The Four Christmas Cards featured one hundred Girl Scouts Brownies and Cub Scouts led by Mrs Bell Mrs Atchison and Mrs Gossett. Music was provided by Mrs Culpepper and Mrs Bertram.

Friends Husk 60 Acres of Corn in Community Work

Fred Shelton of Wayne City suffered a broken leg and this week neighbors gathered at his home to husk about 60 acres of corn. Stoltz of Dahlgren Dies After Stroke at 59

Otis A. Stoltz, 59, prominent farmer and poultry raiser near Dahlgren, died at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at home after a paralytic stroke. He suffered a stroke Tuesday and another yesterday. Funeral services are set for Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill church. Survived by wife Mary, three sons Kenneth of Belle Rive, Robert of Rockford, and Lloyd at home, and a daughter, Mrs. Leonard Duncan.

Officers of Mt. Vernon Fair Ass'n Re‑elected Plan 1949 Improvements

Mt. Vernon State Fair Ass'n officers and directors were re elected at the annual meeting. Wal ter Rhodes was re elected president with John C. Dale Clyde Lee and Clarence S. Wilson also re elected. Directors re elected included Dan McLaughlin Bill Edmison W D Isaac George Bourland John C. Dale and Walter Rhodes. Three improvements planned this year include a 44 horse capacity barn under construction east of the track a rebuilt north horse shed area with a new fence and a new secretary's office. The 1948 fair was reported a success despite rainfall.
