Hard-working members of the Women's Democratic Organization held a Tuesday night gathering at the Armory. Four hundred guests enjoyed a buffet with holiday decor. Speakers included Rep. Paul Powell of Vienna and Rep. Clyde Lee of Mt. Vernon. James R. McLaughlin was master of ceremonies. The event was organized by Mrs. Irma Igo and volunteers handled decorations and serving.

The Rome Day Unit of Home Bureau met with Mrs. Flo Copple on Tuesday December 14. Thirteen members and one visitor attended the business meeting which opened with a Christmas carol. Officers chosen for the year include Chairwoman Flo Copple Vice Chairwoman Minnie Johnson Secretary Pearl Street Recreation Chairman Nina Norfleet 4-H Chairman Mayme Copple Major and Minor Projects Chairman Allie Rollinson Health Chairman Ida Carpenter Publicity Chairman Mona Cunningham Public Welfare Chairman Dora Luchsinger. Major lesson Recognizing Good Design in Furniture was given by Maude Mullinax and Minor lesson Life of the Artist by Minnie Johnson. Dismisses Case Against Car Co in 1947 Collision
A $500 damage suit filed by Bonifield Bros. Trucking Lines against Pressed Steel Car Co. over a switch train truck collision at the Tenth Street crossing in summer 1947 was dismissed by Magistrate E W Threlkeld after the plaintiff rested.
