Mr and Mrs Lawrence R Callaway of Fairfield welcome a daughter born Saturday afternoon at Good Samaritan Hospital. A daughter arrives for Mr and Mrs Edward J Wegman of Woodlawn at Good Samaritan Hospital Saturday afternoon. Zelda Sue is the name of the Wegman baby. Mr and Mrs Kenneth Withey of Nashville greet a six pound ten ounce son born this morning at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.

Jefferson County Historical Society Elects Officers

The Jefferson County Historical Society will hold its annual officer election tomorrow evening at the junior high school. Orian Metcalf retires as president, with J. L. Buford as speaker discussing Mr. Vernon's progress in the past ten years. The group meets three times yearly in March September and December.

Vernon Chamber will handle tickets for a 6:30 p.m. dinner at Hotel Emmerson, with local chambers co-sponsoring the statewide eight‑session series. John Page Wham of Centralia will discuss tax muddles and property taxes, while Robert B. Martin of Mt. Morris will address unemployment compensation policy costs and benefits. Governor and Wife To Entertain Kids In Christmas Party

Governor Dwight H. Green and Mrs. Green will host the annual Christmas party on December 24 in Springfield for children from the city and nearby towns. The governor says it may be the biggest and best yet since it will be his last as state chief executive. More than 6,000 youngsters are expected to attend.
