Mount Dora residents earn UF degrees and Star Club honor
Rhonda Schwartz of Mount Dora earned a Master of Education at the University of Florida in the summer quarter. Dixie Lee Midget received a Bachelor of Arts, and Thomas Wayne Gale earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, both at UF summer graduation. Mike Hanson of Mount Dora is named a 1975 Star Club member of New York Life Insurance, representing the Orlando General Office.

Revised figures show Mount Dora area public schools with a total of 2,212 students after Labor Day, up only six from 2023. First day enrollment was 2,036. Mount Dora High School has 690 students, Mount Dora Middle 587, Roseborough Elementary 559, Triangle Elementary 376, countywide total 16,797. Also, Lake County Pilot Club hosts a rummage and flea market at Garden Gate, while the Democratic Women’s Club of Lake County schedules a Sept. 20 meeting at the Tavares Civic Center with lunch at noon.
