Band Day in the Park Opens Saturday in Mount Dora
Mount Dora hosts “A Day in the Park” this Saturday with 20 groups in a parade at 3 PM and about 15 booths in Donnelly Park and downtown. Ed Pitzer leads the Band Boosters with plans for burgers, hot dogs, games, and a band concert by Mount Dora High School, sponsored by local civic groups.

Mount Dora Church of Christ’s Growth Since 1932
The Mount Dora Church of Christ formed from home worship in 1932 with early members Zelma Sills Elzora Bagwell Corene Sills Hazel Hobdy and Pearl Haskins Brantley. A church on Rossiter and Stowe Avenues followed in 1935 and the Fifth Avenue building in 1945. The church supports the Christian Home and Bible School and partners with East Town to form a new church, while minister Cletus Stutzman returns to teach English and Bible. The congregation, small at 95, collaborates on city beautification and remains active in local service.
