Mount Dora Councilman G R M Pearson spoke at a Rotary luncheon on the city manager form of government. He questioned whether voters will seek a charter referendum and noted the December election will decide three council seats. He said he does not favor changing now and compared city governance to business structures.
The Golden Triangle Republican Women’s Club will hold an Open Forum on Friday September 6 at 9 a.m. in the Bank of Mount Dora at the Golden Triangle Shopping Center. State Committeewoman Dorie Hostettler will lead the event with Republican primary candidates and families invited to speak and take questions.
Mount Dora City Council schedules 8 p.m. meeting on September 10 to discuss the 1974 75 budget and plans a review of the Mount Dora Growers waste dumping onto Lake Dora property. The panel considers meetings with Growers officers and discusses disputed engineering invoices and long range planning collaborations.
The council, facing Labor Day advisability questions, heard Mayor Champion’s concern over a police officer playing in Legion dances with late hours and alcohol. A second reading passed to reduce pool enclosure height from six to four feet.
