Labor Day Fete in Mount Dora Ends with Fireworks
A Labor Day celebration in Gilbert Park on Monday Sept 2 runs all day with a pancake breakfast 8 10 a.m. Vendors sell hot dogs burgers drinks snow cones and candy using tickets at a central booth. Fireworks follow after 8 30 p.m. due to the next day work and school. Sponsors are Mount Dora Jaycees and Mount Dora Fire Department with Hermann Graf Jr. as chairman and Bill Ryan as co chairman.

Fishathon winners celebrated with bikes at Lake Tem event
Nearly 1 000 youngsters joined the Fifth Annual Fishathon at Lake Tem near Golden Triangle Shopping Center. A tied age group produced seven bicycle winners donated by Grants and Western Auto. Mount Dora entrants led by Baron Hanson Mark McCall and siblings Cheryl Tim Sharon Frederick joined Allen Harden Charlene Fielding for the prizes. Pasco Volunteer Fire Department Golden Triangle Merchants Association and the Mount Dora Chamber funded the event. More than 500 pounds of fish were caught in three age groups with Charlene Fielding’s 15 inch 2 lb bass the largest.
