Birds Return to Lakes Gertrude and Dora
Absent birds reappear at feeders as titmice cardinals and woodpeckers return though eating is irregular. The limpkin has nested on Lake Gertrude for years after moving from nearby lakes, and the anhinga or water turkey is also common there. Butterflies brighten the scene with large swallowtails, especially the giant swallowtail, whose eggs on citrus leaves alarm growers due to orange puppies.
