Mr. Larsen, operator of the Texaco station at Fifth and Alexander, plans to move his bus station to renovated, waterproofed buildings in December. Caudel and family members join in the purchase as renovations proceed. Additional sales include the Page home in Sylvan Shores to Lewis I. Klatt and two Dora Manor lots for a new residence. Other transfers include the Vinton house on Donnelly to W. C. Hough and two Sanford Road lots sold to Weldon N. Weidner for immediate building.

A Lions Club gathering in Mount Dora featured speaker Mr. W M Taylor, a former speed skating coach, who shared coaching aches and stories while praising Mount Dora as the state's best town. The group sought a song leader for Ladies Night and noted Lion Conner’s ankle sprain relief after a humorous floor moment. Regular meetings start at 7 30 with Ladies Night at 8 on the last Monday.

Community Church List of Services and Plans

The Community Church held a Sunday morning Service of Worship with the choir performing God is a Spirit by W. S. Bennett. Members are urged to save December 12 for a church supper and social evening. The Bible Class will discuss Palestine and Zionism on December 2 at ten o'clock. Judges 2 10 will be studied. Dr. Richards will preach Saving Faith at 11 o'clock. The Church Council proposes a major year end project to raise a substantial War Victims relief fund beyond the budget with voluntary gifts accepted.

The First Methodist Church holds morning worship at 11 with Darrell Pendleton leading and Rev. George Gibson preaching on First Aid to God. Mrs Melvin White Hurt In Auto Accident

Mrs. Melvin White is hospitalized in Orlando with a badly strained back after a Thanksgiving Day crash. The Mount Dora car carrying Mr A P Bigelow Mr and Mrs Harry Dederer Mrs A P Briggs and Mrs White was struck by a fast moving truck on a side road. No bones were broken and the party was shaken but recovering after returning from the beach.

Last Friday at 6 30 p m the Mount Dora Youth Center girls hosted a pot luck supper at the Hurricane Hut to honor the football team. Girls brought many dishes as boys enjoyed them and the evening included dancing and games after the meal.

A large bass weighing 11 percent pounds was caught Sunday in Lake Dora. The report notes the catch as one of the season’s biggest, attributed to Eugene Ricks and better known as Cookie Ricks.

Tenth Avenue Cottage Damaged by Fire

A cottage on East Tenth Avenue owned by Harold Overhiser was badly damaged by fire Saturday night. Mrs. J A Sere occupied the house but was away. Neighbors saw the front of the house burning as a brisk wind blew. Firemen saved the rear and nearby homes. Fire blamed on a defective flue. Loss partly covered by insurance.

Area Price Control Board Organized for North Florida

Lake and Sumter counties form the Leesburg group to establish an area price control board effective December 15. Kiwanis members Charles Norris Ed Sadler and Roy Coe returned home after 40 months in Japanese prison camps. Dr Lind say McNair of Orlando spoke as Thanksgiving speaker for the Kiwanis for the tenth year. President Pop Brown welcomed guests. Bill Barnett introduced the speaker. Florida Telephone Plans Expansion After War

Florida Telephone Corporation outlines postwar growth for its 27 exchanges. Executive vice president Max E. Wettstein says surveys and long range plans will add outside distribution, extend automatic switching in Mount Dora, add trunks to Tavares, and relieve local and long distance congestion as funds and time permit. The company aims to install equipment for waiting lists and continue rapid expansion after five years of wartime limits.

Cub Scouts Pack Attends Large November Meeting

The Cub Scouts held a large meeting at the Pari House of the Methodist Church on November 26 with strong parent turnout. Four new Cubs John Marsell Peter Trenham William Harding and Gordon Fraleigh were admitted. Alan Claflin becomes a Boy Scout after turning 12. The troop discussed the Scout Friendship Fund to aid interrupted international Scout programs and asked members to donate time December 15 to 22.

Monthly Band Concerts to Start December 9 1945

Arrangements set for second Sunday concerts each month through winter. Shows to be held outdoors at Shuffleboard Courts in good weather and in the Community Auditorium when cold or rainy. Banquet Honors Mount Dora Prisoners Returned From Japan

Close to 200 attendees at a Mount Dora banquet saluted three local men recently released after more than three years as Japanese prisoners. Local leaders from Legion Kiwanis Lions and Chamber of Commerce presented gold wrist watches and war bonds. Dr. Lindsay McNair delivered the Thanksgiving address and urged international goodwill over atomic force.
