Seven candidates qualified for Mount Dora City Council as three seats are open in next month’s municipal election. Incumbents Howard Cox and C. O. Lott join Ronald Archer Lavond Clayton John Coffield Colene Hutcheson and W. G. Shipley who seeks reelection but did not file by the Tuesday deadline. Gordon Dake, completing his 16th year on the council, chairs the planning committee and opposes altering the city’s seven-member charter government. The election is slated for December 14 at the Mount Community Building with one polling place.

Firefighters Contain Attic Fire in Mount Dora Home
