Mount Dora Sidewalk Sale Set for Friday and Saturday

Bargains galore await pre holiday shoppers as downtown Mount Dora merchants host their annual sidewalk sale this Friday and Saturday. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with shop displays and fundraising tables by local organizations. The Mount Dora High School Band performs Saturday noon in Donnelly Park and drawings for two turkeys and fruit baskets occur daily at 12 noon and 5 p.m. Register in Village stores. you need not be present to win. The Chamber of Commerce offers information and refreshments as residents kick off Christmas shopping.

Mount Dora discusses annexation and utility policy shifts

City council held a three hour session approving first readings to annex a 60 acre Eudora Road tract and to set general utility policies and rates. They scheduled Lake Franklin talks and debated Gilbert Park plan while pursuing ordinances on downtown parking and debris disposal by lawn care firms. The Eudora annexation failed 6-1 with Jeff Ray opposing. officials plan further readings and an AG opinion.

Langley elected House Minority Whip for 1977

Rep Richard Langley of Clermont was chosen on the first ballot as Minority Whip for the 1977 Florida House session. He won over Tom Gallagher and Van Poole at a GOP meeting in Tallahassee and was already serving a third two year term from the 35th District centered on Meumt Dora. He described the role as gathering and disseminating information to GOP members and keeping them informed about inside developments.

Cox files to seek Mount Dora City Council seat

Incumbent Howard Cox becomes the sixth candidate to file for three Mount Dora City Council seats in the December 14 election. He cites his utilities work and involvement in the city’s water and sewer projects as his qualifications. Ten-year resident with a wife and four children, Cox aims to address growth and city operations. Other candidates named include Ronald Riche, Lavond Clayton, John Coffield, Colene Hutcheson, and C. O. Lott, with filing deadline set for 5 p.m. Tuesday, November 23.

Princess Court in Mount Dora converts a former theater into a two level shopping arcade with eleven leased specialty shops headed by Queen's Court and King's Court. The Dec. 1 preview caters to chamber members and local service groups ahead of the public grand opening on Dec. 2.

Thanksgiving Service in Mount Dora Community Church

A community Thanksgiving service will be held at 7 30 p m on Wednesday November 24 in the Community Congregational Church of Mount Dora.
