Mount Dora hosts a Saturday drive to renew or join Red Cross memberships at four downtown locations. Volunteers will issue receipts and Red Cross buttons, with 50 cents from each membership sent to Washington while the rest stays for local work. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Red Cross, 1881 1931.
D. C. Sherman will keep his office open Saturday night to receive poll tax from those not yet paid who wish to vote in the December 8 town election. B. A. Williams, the county tax collector, appointed Sherman to collect poll tax locally so residents need not travel to Tavares. Saturday is the last day to pay poll tax to be eligible to vote.
An Associated Press dispatch reports Charles R. Heim of Mount Dora a Yale student received a major Y for baseball last spring. The award was part of thirty two Y's given for baseball crew and track this week.
Armistice Day was observed at the public school with a patriotic program Tuesday afternoon. The American Legion assisted with songs from the school and greetings from Legion Commander O D Stevens. Major Thomas H Cooley gave the patriotic address as faculty and students attended in the High School auditorium.
The Mount Dora Orchestra marks five years of service to the community offering amateur players a shared group for special occasions. It invites all citizens and visitors to join, promising open membership to strengthen musical zeal and support local talent.

The Woman's Club met Tuesday afternoon with Mrs. Elizabeth Evans presiding in Mrs. Kramer’s absence. A vote of thanks was sent to Mr. T. M. Kramer for the flag. Mr and Mrs H E Wadham spent a week on Homosassa coast enjoying salt water fishing. They brought home eleven fish weighing just over 50 pounds on the last day, including channel bass snapper and speckled sea trout. They note inland residents can reach fine salt water fishing within a few hours from Mount Dora, about 77 miles by direct route or 115 miles via Ocala.
Five citrus meetings called by county agent Clifford R. Hiatt in Umatilla Leesburg Lady Lake Tavares and Clermont attracted about 75 Lake county growers. Speakers including Frank Brumley E H DeBusk and W R Briggs discussed grove profits fertilizer recommendations and grove record keeping with plans to analyze records next year.
The 1931 Lake County ad valorem tax totals 709,656.21 dollars, down from 1,115,791.42 in 1930 a 36.4 percent reduction. Boy Scouts of Pike County Georgia toured Atlanta and the State Capitol during a legislative session. The regular meeting on Tuesday discussed local needs, Thanksgiving baskets, and a December 4 candy sale with the Ladies Aid Food sale at Community church.
Local Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion with Auxiliary attended Armistice services in Dr. Fred Marsh's church in Tavares and joined Armistice Day events in Orlando. The group heard a sermon on Keeping Faith and participated in a parade and related activities. Commander Boone of the Florida Department spoke in Orlando on veterans' adjusted compensation. Mount Dora veterans also attended.

The Out-of-Door Club sponsored an Armistice Day program at the Community Building. A flag for the stage was presented to the town by a club representative and received by Mayor W. E. Lackey. A musical program by the Girl's Glee Club and the municipal orchestra followed, then social rooms hosted cards, bridge, and five hundred. Hosts were Madams Adam Hazelwood, J. G. Kirby, T. C. Jensen, and C. Raymond Young.

Members of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion marched in Orlando for Armistice Day. The parade covered about two and a half miles and included Ex Mayor Hazelwood who asked cheerfully when they would begin to march.
The Seventh Annual Convention of the St Johns River Conference in Mount Dora on November 4 and 5 1931 resolves gratitude to Our Heavenly Father hosts the Hostess Auxiliary the Mount Dora Church pastor and his wife Mrs J F Pickard for leadership Mrs Henry W Peabody of Orlando for her message and others who aided the convention. It thanks those who contributed to comfort and support and ends with acknowledgment to Mrs J M Treadwell.
Mount Dora Kiwanis hosted a well attended meeting with lively reports on the State Kiwanis Convention in West Palm Beach. Fred MacMahon shared his hobby Mount Dora and William O Rencher of the Orlando Morning Sentinel was announced as today's speaker on newspaper responsibilities to the community.
Miss Rae Brown presented educational and entertaining moving pictures for children last week drawing over 100 attendees, mostly kids. Proceeds supported the Woman's Club Christmas welfare work, with another show likely after Thanksgiving by Yowell-Drew Company of Orlando for four Saturdays before Christmas.
The American Legion Auxiliary held a November 2 meeting with a food sale planned for November 21 at the A C Quixley Realty office to fund work. Mrs Hunter and Mrs Jackson hosted refreshments and the Mount Dora Legion Post with its Auxiliary joined the Armistice Day parade in Orlando.
Miss Vada Ham underwent a difficult removal of two impacted wisdom teeth by a specialist in Daytona Beach after a local dentist advised the trip. The operation caused significant pain and swelling, but there was no cocaine involved and she is now fully well.
