Entertain Council C of Presidents And Secretaries Meet

A regional gathering of the Entertain Council C of Presidents And Secretaries will convene at 8:00 a.m. with breakfast served, to discuss organization business. Mount Dora hosts the first meeting after organization on November 5 at Sanford with Karl Lehmann as host. Officers for four months include H. L. Smith of Ocala as president E. W. Brown of DeLand as vice president C. M. Gay of Orlando as secretary and Miss Loftie Lawler of Kissimmee as treasurer.

Town Teams to Clash With High School in Special Basketball Night

A double header basketball have been scheduled for Friday evening at Donnelly Park. Town boys and girls teams will face the local high school squads in what promises to be a worthwhile contest. Newcomers are invited to join. practice sessions will be posted at the bank corner. Sponsored by Mr J G Kirby.

Local Boys Win Prizes in Orlando Air Show

Two Orlando youths competed with teams from Eustis, Leesburg, Cocoa and Orlando at Exposition Park under Orlando Exchange Club auspices. Rocket planes powered by compressed air wowed spectators. Moorhead earned the second prize silver medal and Bouterse Jr. won third prize for a Dandy Flier airplane.

Mrs Begole Burns From Boiling Coffee Accident

Mrs F H Begole suffered severe burns when a pot of boiling coffee overturned on her lap as she sat to dinner last Friday evening. The injuries are healing and she will remain in her room for a week or two at 311 Tremain Court and welcomes visitors.

Mount Dora Dogs Must Be Confined, Mayor Warns

Mount Dora residents are urged by Mayor W E Lackey to keep all dogs confined to their owners property. The notice stresses protecting children and indicates stricter action may follow if conditions persist, especially with dogs that could carry rabies.

Boxing Bouts Open Season At Leesburg Arena

Boxing fans in Lake County and nearby areas will pack Coyles Half Acre Boxing Arena in Leesburg tonight for the season opener at 8:00 p m under the American Legion Grover C Mahoney Post No 52. The main event features Eddie Arego of Boise Idaho versus Al Demott of Louisville Ky in a ten round light heavyweight clash. Also slated is Johnny Glenn versus Johnny Brown in a 158 vs 154 pound middleweight bout and two paperweight bouts featuring Al Snyder versus Ward Sloan and Clifton Thompson versus Oswald Grantham. A colored bout or two may be added as promoters promise a high class program drawing a large crowd.

Christmas Seals On Sale By National Tuberculosis Association

Christmas seals will be on sale immediately after Thanksgiving. Envelopes with 100 stamps will be sent to every family. Funds support tuberculosis relief and aid children with defective eyesight hearing and diseased tonsils. Mount Dora citizens have long helped the appeal.

Foot specialists to visit Mount Dora before Florida podiatric convention

Chicago doctors Dr. Frank Furch and Dr. Wm Koppe will be the principal speakers at the Florida Podiatric Association annual convention in December at West Palm Beach. They will spend a few days in Mount Dora as guests of Dr. M. E. Marsh en route to the event. Dr. Furch is described as a leading foot surgeon in the United States and Dr. Koppe as one of the country’s top specialists.

Coolidges May Be Winter Guests At The Lakeside Inn

The Orlando Morning Sentinel asked if Calvin Coolidge and Mrs. Coolidge would visit Mount Dora again at the Lakeside Inn. The ex president said winter plans are indefinite but would like to spend some time there if possible.
