Bank of Mount Dora Plans Move to New Building Next Week
The Bank of Mount Dora, chartered a year ago as Lake County’s first new bank, will open a $200000 two story building in the Golden Triangle Shopping Center on Old 441 next Thursday at 11 am. A seven day merchants celebration features 24 prizes including a Lunch in London and an RCA color television. Santa Claus will draw the winners on the evening of November 26.

An inquest is pending into the death of W A Rucker 70 owner of Town House Apartments, killed November 1 when struck by a car driven by Columbus Strickland city policeman in pursuit of an alleged traffic violator on 11th Avenue. Strickland, a Negro, patrols East Town and was pursuing a car that ran a stop sign.

Jimmy Hutcheson, a 1964 Mount Dora High School graduate, has enlisted in the U S Marine Corps and will report for induction next week. He will be sworn in in Jacksonville and proceed to Parris Island for basic training. he is the son of Mr and Mrs J D Hutcheson.

Albert Allspach Drowns After Boat Collides With Lake Pilings
Albert F Allspach 52 of Mount Dora died last Thursday when his boat struck red painted pilings near the Apopka Canal on Lake Beauclaire. His body was recovered Friday after extensive searches by Orange and Lake County deputies and Mount Dora firemen. He had lived in Apopka and Mount Dora, was WWII veteran, and is survived by his widow Willene two sons two daughters three sisters and other relatives. Funeral services were held Monday at Rehbaum Chapel. Interment Pine Forest Cemetery.

National Award Given Dr. Vason For Child Work
Dr. Robert F. Vason of Mount Dora received the Distinguished Service Award of the American Society of Dentistry for Children at the President’s Luncheon in Las Vegas Nevada. The award honors a general practitioner for valuable contributions to children’s dentistry. Vason led fluoridation efforts in Lake County and organized a dental health poster contest for students. Women Form Garden Club Of Mount Dora In 1948 Milestone
The Mount Dora Garden Club began with 28 members at the November 1 1948 charter meeting at the Mount Dora Yacht Club led by president Mrs John Alden Heist.
