Zellwood Gets Large Dehydrating Plant for War Food

A major dehydrating plant is being built at Zellwood under War Production executive approval. Inventor L N Miller of Eugene Oregon leads the project with business engineer Mrs Marilla Carreta of Los Angeles. The facility will process 20 to 40 tons per day, dehydrating produce in about eight hours and packing the product in five pound tins to save weight for shipment to service members.

Mount Dora gears up for an Armistice Day parade and ceremony with Battery C Coast Artillery leading the march from Donnelly Avenue to Donnelly Park. Hope fades on Dora Plymouth road contract bid

A 9 mile eight inch concrete road linking Mount Dora and Plymouth was rejected by the Bureau of Public Roads. The winning bid of 725 004 was about 20 percent above the engineers estimate as Florida contractors face busy work and prefer high bids. The project would have served as a key access road from Orlando and Camp Blanding toward Valdosta and Atlanta, with the Mount Dora to Plymouth segment the only poor section.
