Captain Ben C. Jones outlined Red Cross Public Health Nursing efforts in Florida with 10 215 visits to the sick and 11 278 school child examinations in the past year. Lake County supported Miss Ella Bell Jones salary from 1937 to this year and members funded monthly contributions. The annual Roll Call runs November 11 to Thanksgiving Day.

Boy Scouts Repair Old Toys For Needy Children

Mount Dora Boy Scouts collect and repair old toys to donate to King’s Daughters and other welfare groups for Christmas. Parts may be reused if repair is impossible. Call Cham ber of Commerce or Paul Mosteller to arrange pickup. Upcoming events include the Eustis board of review on November 10 and Mount Dora court of honor on November 17. all scouts and supporters urged to attend.

Hallowe'en Carnival Best Ever Held Here

The Hallowe'en Carnival on Donnelly Avenue drew huge crowds with a parade from city hall to the carnival entrance led by King Stuart Sadler and Queen Shirley Coen. Mayor Simpson crowned the royal pair as judges awarded prizes for originality and prettiest costumes. Events included an Amateur Show, marionette acts, bowling, games, and a busy refreshment stand. the PTA reported net proceeds over 150 dollars despite some outstanding expenses.

Town Council Approves WPA Water System Plans

At Tuesday night meeting Wylie Gillespie, county engineer, reported WPA accepted minor plan changes after Atlanta review. Bids will be advertised for the water system improvements to assure ample supply and fire safety. A traffic light on US 441 at Morningside Drive may be installed with Mount Dora supplying current. Outdoor municipal lighting is under advisement for permanence.

Five Boys Set To Enter Orange Box Regatta In Mount Dora

The Chamber of Commerce and Kiwanis Club back a Mount Dora entry for the Orange Box Regatta with at least five sailboats. Final races occur on Washington's Birthday alongside the Florida Waterways Congress annual meeting. District heats precede February 22 event. H G Dimsdale of the Mount Dora Yacht Club joins the Regatta committee and will meet Sunday at New Smyrna.
